THUNDER BAY – City police have identified a suspect who fled following a motor-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon on Court Street.

However, police aren’t releasing the suspect’s name at this time as they search for the person, while encouraging the individual to turn themselves in.

Police say they attempted a traffic stop on Court Street near Ambrose Street at about 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, but the person driving the black sedan ignored the lights and kept driving. The officer in pursuit was in the process of discontinuing, when he observed the vehicle strike another vehicle traveling southbound outside a neighbourhood grocery store.

The driver then fled on foot through the grocery store parking lot toward Johnson Avenue.

Police blocked off sections of both streets and brought out the K-9 unit, but to no avail.

The investigation continues.
