THUNDER BAY – Police have a man and a woman in custody on drug and weapons offences after a disturbance call at a south-side hotel led to the seizure or $178,000 in illegal narcotics.

In a release issued on Tuesday morning, police say they were called to the hotel just after noon on Saturday, and then executed two controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrants.

Among the drugs seized were crystal meth, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, cocaine, Oxycodone pills, Xanax pills, psilocybin and cannabis resin.

They also found a number of imitation handguns and machine guns, along with body armour.

Mark Bax, 39, faces a number of drug trafficking and weapons charges, as well as breach of probation. Amanda Desaulniers, 23, is charged with trafficking cocaine and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Both suspects have been remanded into custody.

None of the charges have been proven in a court of law.
