A popular event at the city’s police station is about to begin.
The Thunder Bay Police Service is again auctioning off unclaimed property, including dozens of used bicycles.
The auction takes place behind the Balmoral Police Station.
Property clerk Maggie Moffat said they used to hold these auctions on weekends, but the last one in June was held on a weekday night, and attracted more than 500 people.
She added that there aren't as many items up for grabs this time around, but she's still expecting plenty of bidders to turn out, including many parents and kids looking for a great deal on a bicycle.
Moffat said some bicycles can go for as little as $5, or as high as $200.
The auction gets underway at 6:30 p.m., and bidders must register before they can get a bidding number.
