RED LAKE, Ont. -- A nearly 24-hour long police stand off ended peacefully with officers discovering a man's body.
Officials with the OPP say officers from the Red Lake detachment received a report that a man had barricaded himself a Balmertown, Ont., home around 8 a.m. On Nov. 4.
Police officers from Red Lake and Ear Falls set up a perimeter around the home. Just before 5 a.m. On Nov. 5, a police tactical and rescue unit entered the home. Officers found the body of a man inside. No foul play is suspected.
The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
Officers remain at the scene as the investigation continues.
