Police still looking for suspect in Shelter House stabbing

THUNDER BAY – The suspect who stabbed two people outside the Shelter House earlier this week is still at large.

A Thunder Bay Police official on Thursday morning confirmed they are still searching the suspect responsible for the incident, which happened Tuesday night. The suspect has not been publicly named and no description has been provided.

Both victims, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man had surgery while the woman only received stitches.

Multiple police vehicles, including the crime scene unit, were present outside the George Street homeless shelter for much of Tuesday night as the altercation was investigated.

Despite the front entrance of the building and surrounding sidewalk being blocked off with crime scene tape, the facility was not have been evacuated and clients remained inside with access at the rear of the building.
