Slow Down, Clear The Windows and Don't Drive If Your Vehicle Has The Wrong Tires

Thunder Bay, a place where you can enjoy two seasons all within 48 hours.

Many drivers were shocked into that reality yesterday when summer like driving conditions abruptly ended with a St Patrick's Day snow storm. Snow was pretty much continuous for the past twenty four hours leaving drivers in full winter driving conditions once again.

There were 53 collisions, none with serious injury. Many drivers found themselves in ditches and hung up on snow banks. On a positive note, that means that only 0.1% of all drivers experienced anything more than a serious delay.

The drivers believing the Thunder Bay cliché of being able to go anywhere to anywhere in twenty minutes or less were well represented in the group of drivers calling for tow trucks and reporting collisions to police. Also in that group were drivers who are now wishing that proper snow tires had been installed on their ride

Police remind all drivers to slow down, allow extra travel times and be sure to clear vehicles completely and thoroughly before setting off.

If you don't have proper tires for these winter driving conditions, please find other alternate transportation until Works is able to completely clear the snow and get the roads salted and sanded.
