Police to hand out exemplary service awards on Thursday

THUNDER BAY -- Thirty members of the Thunder Bay Police Service will be recognized on Thursday night for their achievements on the job.

THUNDER BAY -- Thirty members of the Thunder Bay Police Service will be recognized on Thursday night for their achievements on the job.

Exemplary service awards will be handed out in three different categories at a ceremony being held at the Valhalla Inn.

Executive officer Chris Adams, in a release issued on Wednesday, said the police exemplary service medal is approved by the governor general in recognition of 20 years of loyal and meritorious service to law enforcements.

“The police exemplary service bar is also approved by the governor general of Canada and awarded for each 10 years of exemplary service, in addition to the 20 years of service,” Adams said.

The dedication to service award is presented to civilian members with 20 and 30 years  of service to the city.
