Police warn of fake Wal-Mart text messages

City police are warning residents about fraudulent text messages claiming that recipients have won a prize. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the classic text message scam is making the rounds in this area.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the classic text message scam is making the rounds in this area.

The text messages are being sent from a 718 area code and claim that Wal-Mart is providing the message recipient with a prize.
Police say there are no prizes associated with these messages.

Police also say that people receiving these text messages should not open them.
