City police are warning residents about fraudulent text messages claiming that recipients have won a prize.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the classic text message scam is making the rounds in this area.
The text messages are being sent from a 718 area code and claim that Wal-Mart is providing the message recipient with a prize.
Police say there are no prizes associated with these messages.
Police also say that people receiving these text messages should not open them.
