After struggling for much of the year, the Port Authority is reporting a big jump in cargo totals for the month of July.

More than 935,000 tonnes of cargo moved through the Port of Thunder Bay last month. That's more than 200,000 than what was recorded in July 2010.

The increase results from more grain movement, almost 790,000 thousand tonnes last month, which is about a quarter of a million tonnes more than in July of 2010.

The increase has also boosted overall totals for the year to almost 3.3-million tonnes, which is on par with total tonnage thought to port at this point last year.
