THUNDER BAY -- Porter Airlines has apologized to the teen it bumped from a recent flight to Toronto.
The Thunder Bay 16-year-old, Xenia Ulok, had intended to fly to Toronto from Thunder Bay for a schedule chemotherapy treatment at Sick Kids. She requires the treatments for a rare type of lymphoma.
But she was bumped from her December 17th flight. The teen and her father only learned that they were being bumped when they arrived at the check-in counter before the plane was scheduled to depart.
The teen was unable to fly to Toronto because the flight leaving Thunder Bay had weight restrictions.
Officials with the airline reached out to the family Tuesday afternoon, and is offering them 10 free flights as compensation for their ordeal.
