THUNDER BAY - Several areas in and around the city are without power due to weather conditions and a motor vehicle collision.

Outages have been reported by Thunder Bay Hydro on the city’s north side between Red River Road and John Street along Algonquin Avenue.

Another outage was reported along Dawson Road from County Fair to Kivikoski Road, as well as a large outage bordered by Shuniah, Algoma, and Boulevard Lake that is affecting an estimated 1,500 customers.

A motor vehicle collision resulted in outages between High Street and Algoma Street, but power has been restored for most customers. Small outages remain as crews work to clear the scene of the collision.

An additional 1,500 customers along Highway 61 south of Broadway Avenue to Townline Road were also without power, but according to Thunder Bay Hydro, power has since been restored.

Thunder Bay Hydro said crews are working to restore power, though there is no estimated time for restoration in other affected areas at this point.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for the city of Thunder Bay, with total snow accumulations of between 20 and 35 centimetres expected to fall between Thursday and Friday. Conditions are expected to improve Friday morning.
