THUNDER BAY - Power outages were reported throughout the Thunder Bay area Sunday, as Environment Canada warned of wind gusts up to 80 kilometres per hour.

Synergy North reported two outages along the city's outskirts Sunday morning, adding that it had received reports of "a number of outages throughout the City of Thunder Bay" early Sunday afternoon.

An outage along Hazelwood Drive, just off Dawson Road, was reportedly caused by tree contact with power lines. The company estimated between 25 and 100 customers were impacted, and estimated power would be restored by noon.

A similar number of customers were affected further south, along Oliver Road, Gratton Road, and Twin City Crossroad. That outage was declared resolved by the company by late morning.

Winds were forecasted to weaken by Sunday afternoon, according to Environment Canada.

Residents can find updated information and report an outage through Synergy North's outage map web page, or by calling 1-833-428-1451.
