THUNDER BAY -- Evidence was presented in the preliminary inquiry for a local man charged in the death of a 67-year-old man Monday at the provincial courthouse.

Shane Kolody, 20, was charged with criminal negligence causing death and possession of stolen property over $5,000 after he allegedly drove a truck that fatally struck Martin John Amos, 67, on Northern Avenue on May 20, 2012.

Kolody was also charged with theft over $5,000 and theft under $5,000 after a 2004 Dodge Dakota was stolen from an Otto Street home and a driver of a Dodge truck filled up the gas tank at a Cumberland Street gas station without paying for the fuel on May 19.

The accused has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after police observed the vehicle driven in an erratic manner.

Police also charged Kolody with resisting arrest.

The case was adjourned to Dec. 3 for arguments as to which charges Kolody will stand trial for.
