THUNDER BAY -- A preliminary hearing has been set for a man charged in the city’s second homicide of 2014.

Randel Wabasse, 23, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Adam Nicodemus Beaver, 46, on May 14 at a north-side apartment complex.

The charges followed reports of a stabbing at Andras Court located on South Cumberland Street just after 8 a.m. on the day of the incident.

A police spokesperson said at the time that a severely injured male had been discovered in the residence and he was rushed to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was pronounced dead.

Wabasse appeared in person at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Friday and had a preliminary hearing set for three days beginning on March 16.

The accused remains in custody.

None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
