THUNDER BAY - Two men accused in the 2019 murder of Lee Chiodo will return to court in the fall to begin an eight-day preliminary inquiry.

The hearing was set for September 14 and is scheduled for just over a week, court heard on Wednesday, July 29, from Crown counsel Rob Kozak.

David Hui, 49, and Musab Saboon each face a charge of first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of Chiodo, 40, after his body was found by a passerby on Mission Island in February 2019.

Hui was arrested by Thunder Bay police in March 2019. His co-accused, Saboon, turned himself in to the Waterloo Region Police Service a few days after Hui's arrest.

Hui is currently out on bail and Saboon remains in custody at the Thunder Bay district jail.

Preliminary inquiries are hearings after which a judge decides whether there is enough evidence to send a case to trial.
