THUNDER BAY - Several witnesses are expected to testify at a preliminary inquiry which began on Monday for two people charged with second-degree murder in connection to the 2019 death of 37-year-old Tanya Andy.

Ashley Potson and Patrick Menson are each facing charges of murder in connection to the homicide on the city's north side in March 2019.

Thunder Bay police arrested Potson and Menson after Andy's body was discovered on a walking path near a north-side hotel off Dawson Road on March 19, 2019.

Preliminary inquiries are pre-trial hearings where a judge decides whether there is enough evidence to send a case to trial. All evidence heard at these inquiries are bound by publication bans.

The inquiry is scheduled to last five days beginning July 20 with crown prosecutors expected to call 15 witnesses.
