A Northwestern Ontario mining company has been handed a big fine for construction work on Crown land that was conducted without a permit.
Premier Gold approached the province in October 2010 about a project in the Fly Lake area, northeast of Ear Falls.
Ministry of Natural Resources personnel informed the company a permit would be required for construction of several stream crossing planned as part of the work. But a subsequent check showed the work had been undertaken before the permit was issued.
As a result, Premier Gold has been handed a fine of $25,000.
