Price of gas skyrockets by up to 16 cents a litre

Most stations have hiked the price at the pumps by at least six cents a litre, following a trend south of the border.

THUNDER BAY – The price of gas climbed up to 16 cents a litre on Thursday at several gas stations in the Thunder Bay area.

About eight stations are selling regular unleaded fuel for $1.359 a litre, according to the watchdog website gasbuddy.com.

Several other stations hiked the price to $1.259, about six cents more than it was selling for earlier in the week.

The least expensive gas in the area can be found at THP Variety and Gas on Fort William First Nation, where a litre of unleaded fuel costs $1.157.

Superstore is the best deal within city limits, at $1.249.

The current Ontario average is $1.17 a litre, about two cents cheaper than the national average.
