Province invests nearly $2 million in White River Forest Products

Funding will help create 15 new jobs

WHITE RIVER, Ont. -- The Ontario government has announced $1.9 million in funding to support the modernization of the White River Forest Products sawmill.

According to a government news release, the money will be released over four years, and will help the company increase production by 30 per cent.

White River Forest Porducts is a private corporation that operates in partnership with Pic Mobert First Nation.

About 25 per cent of the 160-member work force is from the First Nation community.

The upgrading project will create 15 additional jobs at the mill in White River.

"We are pleased to see the government recognizing the value of supporting job creation in green industries like forestry," said company president and chief executive officer Frank Dottori.
