With the Family Day weekend almost upon us, the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is promoting an activity that the whole family can enjoy.
All across Canada, families can ice fish for free next weekend. It's one of two weekends in the year that individuals and families can fish without a licence.
Bill Bartley, LRCA chairman, encourages families to go out to places like Hazelwood Lake and Silver Harbour to learn more and take part in the winter activity.
The LRCA is also offering a deal to those who want to take part. If you stop by their office on Conservation Road and purchase a $30 explorer card between Monday and Friday, they'll also include a rod, reel, tackle and a map of their jurisdiction.
