A province-wide review of the operations of the Local Health Integration Networks came to the city Wednesday.
The Standing Committee on Social Policy was in Thunder Bay to look at the operations of the Northwest LHIN and gain input on how well it's functioning.
The aim of the review is to determine whether to broaden the mandate of the LHIN's and assign more responsibility for health care to them.
It's also looking for feedback on areas in which the organizations have excelled and areas that need improvement.
Laura Kokocinski, CEO of the Northwest LHIN,i says they will continue to engage with people in the northwest in order to improve on areas like chronic disease prevention and management, mental health and addiction, as well as the health-care needs of the Aboriginal population.
