THUNDER BAY -- While Quebec City may be more 1,800 kilometres away, a local public school had no problems adopting its culture to help celebrate winter.

The Kingsway Park Public School transformed into an old fashioned Quebec Carnival Friday. While bonhomme de neige did not attend, the Kingsway mascot Pablo was there in his voyageur outfit for the winter festivities.

The Kingsway Quebec Carnival coincides with the kick off of the world's largest winter carnival in Quebec City.

"Culture, for this particular carnival is about teaching them that in Quebec they celebrate winter activities," said, Sharon Maclean, French teacher at Kingsway Park Public School.

"In Thunder Bay, the North, we celebrate winter activities outside and we make the most of the weather."

Although they are not in Quebec, they can at least experience what some of the kids are doing during their carnival, today is all about having fun.”
