THUNDER BAY – EcoSuperior is offering up a limited supply of discounted rain barrels for sale.
The environmental group has about 300 barrels, available for $55 under the program, which is open to city residents in good standing with their Thunder Bay water account.
Additional barrels are available once the discounted ones run out, or to non city-residents, for $75.
“We sold more than 500 rain barrels last year,” says EcoSuperior executive director Ellen Mortfield. “They are very popular with area residents and thanks to support from the City of Thunder Bay, we are able to offer them at a great price.”
The one-day sale is happening on Thursday, when the office will stay open until 6 p.m.
The barrels are re-purposed olive and pickle barrels, made of food-grade plastic and can hold up to 220 litres of water. They also come with a mosquito-proof lid, overflow hose and on-off spigot.
A City of Thunder Bay water account number must be presented to qualify for the discount.
