With rain in the forecast, officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources say it might help reduce some of the smoke near Sandy Lake First Nation.
MNR firefighters continues to tackle 64 active fires in the region with two new fires reported to have started on Tuesday. Fire Information Officer Debbie Maclean says so far this year there have been roughly 491 fires burning 82 thousand hectares.
Maclean says rain predicted near Sandy Lake should improve smoky conditions a bit.
She says the hazard ranges from low across most of the region to high in the far north and added it's hard to tell how much smoky conditions will improve near Sandy Lake First Nation.
