THUNDER BAY -- Fire department officials credit a rapid response for helping save a north side home from considerable damage.
According to a news release from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, firefighters were called to a Crown Street residence at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning by a homeowner whose fire alarm was activated and there was smoke in the basement.
The first arriving crew was able to bring the fire quickly under control and nobody was injured, the release said.
Fire officials caution homeowners to keep combustibles away from any fuel burning and heating appliances.
