RCMP continues investigation into Dominican attack claims

The RCMP continues to investigate the claims of two Thunder Bay women who say they were sexually assaulted and shot at while vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

The RCMP continues to investigate the claims of two Thunder Bay women who say they were sexually assaulted and shot at while vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

Local Detachment Commander Normand Roy says officers spoke to the women earlier this week and are now in the process of collecting information from witnesses.

All findings will be forwarded to Interpol.

Roy says the RCMP is conducting its own investigation in the Dominican, but has no jurisdiction to lay charges oversees.

Officials with the resort at the centre of the allegations call the accusations unfounded.

They say local tourism police concluded there was no evidence of a struggle in the women’s hotel room, nor that any gun shots were fired.
