RED LAKE – A Red Lake resident is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers from Red Lake and Ear Falls were on patrol Sunday around 2:50 p.m.
Officers observed a vehicle swerve in its lane and conducted a traffic stop to speak to the driver.
Police say the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
A demand for a roadside test occurred which the man failed.
He was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation a 58-year-old Red Lake man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by way of Undertaking for a Red Lake court date on Oct. 21 to answer to the charges.
