Using Operation Red Nose makes everyone safer its new chair says.

Anyone drinking over the holiday season can get themselves and their vehicle home safe by usin g the service, now in its fourth year.

“They don’t have to worry about the risk to themselves and others,” honourary chair Darren Roberts said at the Operation Red Nose’s launch Wednesday morning.

“The more drinking drivers we get off the road it’s safer for everybody who’s on the road.”

The service gave more than 660 rides last year, raising more than $22,000. Roberts said they can always use more volunteers to make this year even bigger.

“We need more volunteers. The more volunteers we have the more rides we can give,” he said.

Starting Nov. 30, from Thursday to Saturday, people looking for a ride home can call 683-Nose. Donations made go to support St. John Ambulance.
