A 24-year-old-man charged with cutting down a tree at Boulevard Lake says he regrets what he has done.
Robert Harris briefly appeared in Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Wednesday. Police charged Harris in June for allegedly cutting down a 100-year-old white pine on Lyon Boulevard. Harris told Tbnewswatch.com that he went out to a bar that night, was "blacked out drunk" and didn’t realize what he had done until the next morning.
"I shouldn’t have done that especially with a baby on the way," Harris said. "I have a family and this is not something that I would do again. They want $15,000. How am I supposed to pay for that? I just want this to be over with."
Harris will appear in court again on Sept. 19.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
