The case of a 19-year-old man charged with first-degree murder in the death of a fellow inmate will continue Monday at the provincial courthouse.

Adam Capay appeared in court Thursday morning and was remanded until Monday where he will appear in bail court via video.

Capay was charged in June with the murder of 35-year-old Sherman Kirby Quisses. Both men were serving sentences at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

It’s alleged the two men were involved in a violent altercation just before 6 a.m. on June 3.

Police said Quisses and Capay were in the common room at the time of the incident. That common area houses around 30 inmates.

Quisses succumbed to his injuries on June 4.

None of the charges against the accused have been proven in court.
