Resident charged after fire for disabling fire alarm

THUNDER BAY -- A local resident has been fined for intentionally disabling his fire alarm. Rescue crews responded to a structural fire on Prince Arthur Boulevard during the weekend.

Rescue crews responded to a structural fire on Prince Arthur Boulevard during the weekend.

After the blaze was under control, crews discovered the smoke alarm had been removed from the main floor of the residence.

The tenant has since been charged and fire officials are now reminding people that removing a fire alarm can result in a fine of up to $50,000.
