THUNDER BAY -- Expanding to more northern communities is in the cards for the Regional Food Distribution Association.

Executive Director Volker Kromm says it's looking to move more food into communities like Mishkeegogaming and Piakngikum, but it has to overcome a number of hurdles.

The expansion could up to 10,000 more people to the organization's service roster and some of the communities don't currently have a food bank.

Kromm says some pilot projects have started serving some communities, but more planning is needed to complete the expansion.
