Ring of Fire development was front and centre Monday as delegates from the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association sat down for talks with Premier Kathleen Wynne and several members of her cabinet.
NOMA President Ron Nelson says they discussed the tremendous potential of the project and the need for the province to take the lead in ensuring the opportunity is not missed.
Other topics at the Good Roads Conference touched on during the discussion included the future of the Thunder Bay Generating Station and the need for more infrastructure support for the Northwest.
Nelson says he believes Premier Wynne's participation in the talks is a positive sign the regions concerns are being heard.
The annual Good Roads Conference wraps up Tuesday.
