THUNDER BAY -- One person was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning after a fire broke out on the 300 block of Riverside Drive.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was dispatched to the report of a structural fire on the 300 block of Riverside Drive around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

First arriving crews observed heavy smoke and fire from the second-floor window, which had already been blown out by the heat.

Fire officials say all occupants were accounted for and crews began to battle the fire from the exterior and progressed into the interior to prevent fire spread. Firefighters brought the fire under control a short time later.

One of the occupants sustained burns and was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
