THUNDER BAY —  A man being sought by the Anishinabek Police Service has been taken into custody after fleeing from police on the weekend.

The APS says Robert Ivan Bannon, 25, was arrested Monday night by APS and OPP officers.

He was apprehended at a local residence without incident.

Police said Bannon, who had been wearing a court-ordered tracking device, removed it and fled after the APS responded Saturday night to a family dispute on the Fort William First Nation.

He faces charges relating to that incident and for breaching court orders related to a previous incident that led to firearms-related charges.

Bannon attended a bail hearing Monday and was held in custody.
