THUNDER BAY – Firefighters rescued a sailboat Sunday morning after high wind conditions caused the boat to lose contact with the dock.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was contacted by a civilian around 11:25 a.m. after finding a sailboat was on the shore up against the rocks

Firefighter crews arrived at the marina to find a 25-foot sailboat that required immediate action.

Captain Kerley assumed command and with assistance from another Pumper and five crew members the vessel was taken off the rocks, boarded, started and delivered to a safe location.

No one was injured, but the sailboat sustained damage.
