The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle campaign reached new heights in 2010.
The Thunder Bay chapter on Friday announced it had raised more than $147,000, more than $17,000 over the campaign’s original goal and $65,000 more than last year.
The money will be used to feed and house the needy, expand the Red Cap anti-bullying program in schools and stock their food bank.
“Your generosity with both your time and finances is overwhelming,” said Major Mervyn Halvorsen, executive director of the Salvation Army Community and Residential Services. “Thank you for helping us to restore hope and dignity in our community.”
