Sault Ste. Marie man has local court date after impaired charge

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday, June 20, 2015 at approximately 1:22 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a possible impaired driver on Highway 11/17. Information was provided regarding the driver and the vehicle that was being operated. An officer located the vehicle and driver in Thunder Bay.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Subsequently, the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

Agnes VACCHIANO, 43 years of age, from Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 21, 2015 to answer to the charges.

On Saturday, June 20, 2015 at approximately 4:30 pm, officers received several reports of an erratic driver on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah. An officer located the vehicle at the Highway 11/17 and Red River Road intersection.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Subsequently, the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

James MAZI, 59 years of age, from Sault Ste Marie, Ont, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 28, 2015 to answer to the charges.
