The Aboriginal Science Fair celebrated its fourth annual competition Friday.
The partnership with Confederation College gives First Nation students from Schreiber to Dryden a place to present their science experiments.
The 20-plus exhibits feature everything from astronomy to how to start a fire and the best ways to clean up an oil spill.
The science fair helps students learn how science relates to their heritage, and they compete for prizes at the same time.
Event co-ordinator Jeff Delea says the science fair has helped some students “break out of their shells.”
The next Science Fair in Thunder Bay is the Northwestern Ontario Regional competition, which is scheduled to take place on April 26.
