Science North officially expanded its presence in Northwestern Ontario.

A grand opening was held Tuesday for a new Science North facility in Thunder Bay, which will provide hands-on educational science experiences for Northerners.

Science North CEO Jim Marchbank said the new base, located at the Boys and Girls Club, will allow them to serve all of Northern Ontario after only being offered out of Sudbury for the past 26 years. Science North staff will travel to northern communities in a Cool Science Caravan throughout the year, delivering unique programs to schools and at special events.

The Science North Base in Thunder Bay was funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
