A police search team is now looking for a missing U.S. angler on Lake Superior.

Officials with the Nipigon detachment of the OPP say the search was launched in the Condon Island area around 9 p.m. Thursday after they were contacted by anxious family members.

The 80-year-old Bloomington, Minn. man had reportedly left his camp on Kama Point in Patience Township earlier in the day.

Family members later discovered his boat at the mouth of the Jackfish River.

OPP marine units, two coast guard boats and a Coast Guard helicopter are now involved in the search.
