Seventeen-year-old charged with impaired driving after highway crash: OPP

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On August 17, 2015 at 4:47 pm, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of an erratic motor vehicle on Highway 602 in Alberton Township.

Approximately 4:58 pm officers received a second call advising a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Kings Highway 11 and McIrvine Road, in the Town of Fort Frances. The motor vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene and matched the description of the previous driving complaint.

Officers located the motor vehicle at a residence in Emo Township. The driver, a 17 year old young offender of Alberton Township was showing signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver was subsequently charged with,

-Take Motor Vehicle without Consent
-Fail to Provide Breath Sample
-Drive While Ability Impaired
-Red Light-Fail to Stop
-Fail to Report Accident
-Having Open Liquor in Open Container

She will appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on September 28, 2015.
