THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada has lifted a severe thunderstorm watch for the Thunder Bay area that was issued Monday morning.
Shortly after 9 a.m., meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel-size hail, and heavy rain.
The storm was located near Cloud Lake and moving northeast at 75 kilometres an hour.
These warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
There's still a risk of heavy showers or thunderstorms for the Thunder Bay area on Monday into Tuesday morning, with 10 to 20 millimetres of rain expected.
