THUNDER BAY – Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning for Atikokan, Shebandowan and Quetico Park.
In a warning issued Thursday afternoon, Environment Canada states that they are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and rainfall are possible.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
City of Thunder Bay Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.
A cold front is forecast to move across the region later today. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to affect the Lakehead and Atikokan regions ahead of the front, a few of which may become severe.
Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
