THUNDER BAY — The city will start roadwork on MacDonell Street next week.

According to a news release from the city, construction will begin on Tuesday, May 20, with the closing of MacDonell Street between Central Avenue and Squier Street.

Crews will be doing essential road and sewer infrastructure improvements in the area.

The release also states that the closure is necessary to complete the installation of a storm sewer system, as well as curb and gutter work, followed by asphalt paving.

With weather permitting, the project is expected to take 14 weeks to complete.

During construction, local traffic will be permitted to access businesses within the closure area.
