THUNDER BAY – The sexual assault case against a pair of former University of Ottawa hockey players has faced another delay.

David Foucher and Guillaume Donovan were charged more than two years ago after allegations of a sexual assault in Thunder Bay.

The trial of Foucher and Donovan was originally scheduled to begin this week but has been pushed back to allow one of the defense lawyers to deal with a personal matter.

The case will be back in front of the courts on Aug. 30 to set a new trial date.

It's alleged that the now 27-year old Foucher and 26-year old Donovan sexually assaulted a woman at a Thunder Bay hotel in the early hours of Feb. 2, 2014 after a hockey game played against the Lakehead Thunderwolves.

The alleged incident garnered national media attention and the University of Ottawa later suspended its hockey program, resulting in a lawsuit against the school from another former player.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
