Shane Judge can, will run for mayor in next municipal election

THUNDER BAY -- A former Thunder Bay mayoral candidate has been cleared to run in the next municipal election.

THUNDER BAY -- A former Thunder Bay mayoral candidate has been cleared to run in the next municipal election.

Shane Judge, who finished third in the 2014 mayor's race, appeared in court Thursday to have penalties waived after he failed to submit his campaign expenses by the March 27 deadline.

The court obliged after Judge explained that he did turn in his expense papers but simply forgot to have them sworn in by somebody under oath.

Judge calls it an oversight on his part and said it wasn't until he returned from a vacation that he found out his paperwork hadn't been accepted by Thunder Bay's city clerk.

The matter has now been resolved and Judge said he plans to run for the city's top job again in 2018.
