Shelter House has hired a new executive director.

Gary Mack takes over the position vacated by Patty Hajdu, who left the job last year after winning a seat in the House of Commons running for the Liberals in Thunder Bay-Superior North.

Mack comes to the job with 25 years of experience in the social work field in Thunder Bay, a graduate of both Confederation College and Lakehead University.

He’s worked at a variety of positions over the past two-and-a-half decades, starting with the city’s social services department and later as a case manager at the addiction housing program at Alpha Court.  Most recently he was the director of client services at Elevate NWO.

Brad King served as interim executive director at the homeless shelter for the past several months.
