Thunder Bay's Port Authority is projecting another big year, as the port's numbers for July have been released.
The numbers show the port moved nearly 800,000 metric tonnes of grain, and nearly a million tonnes of cargo overall.
While that number is a dip from last July, it's still 26 per cent higher than the five-year average.
The port also saw an increase in other types of cargo, including coal, potash and dry bulk goods. Officials with the Port Authority say they could not point to any one particular reason for the boom.
Thunder Bay Port Authority Tim Heney said these numbers are sustainable, especially as the port is now handling a greater variety of goods.
