Residents of Shuniah say if it isn't broke don't fix it when it comes to a change in their address.
Canada Post held an information session in the municipality Wednesday to talk about the upcoming change in mailing addresses that will come into effect later this fall. But residents in attendance aren't happy about the changes.
Shuniah’s community centre was full of people up in arms Wednesday afternoon over the upcoming changes. Residents of the municipality will see their mailing addresses change from Thunder Bay or Pass Lake to Shuniah.
New postal codes will also be issued although it was not made clear how many new postal codes there will be. Shuniah Councillor Donna Blunt said she wasn't surprised by the people's frustration.
Canada Post representatives declined to be interviewed about the changes. The open house continues until 8 p.m. The new addresses will take effect on Oct. 17.
